Braveheart Athletic Association began with a family's love, resilience, and a vision to create opportunities for children of all abilities.

In 2023, Dejour Ragland, Founder of Braveheart Athletic Association, and his wife, Tiara, learned that their daughter had been diagnosed with Level 3 Autism at just two years old. Like many parents navigating an unexpected diagnosis, they began thinking deeply about what her future might look like and how they could ensure she always felt included, confident, and supported.

When she was about three years old, they discovered something that would change everything—she had developed a true love for soccer. Watching her excitement as she kicked the ball, ran across the field, and lit up during play showed them the powerful impact that sports could have on her development and happiness.

That moment sparked the vision that would become Braveheart Athletic Association.

Dejour and Tiara recognized that many children and young adults with autism and other disabilities face barriers to participating in organized sports. They envisioned an organization where athletes of all abilities could compete, develop their skills, build confidence, form lasting friendships, and be celebrated for who they are.

Today, Braveheart Athletic Association is committed to providing competitive and inclusive sports programs that empower athletes with disabilities and support their families throughout the Greater Houston community. The organization strives to create an environment where every athlete is encouraged to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.

What began with one little girl's love for soccer has grown into a mission driven by family and purpose—to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to play, compete, belong, and thrive. Through Braveheart Athletic Association, we hope to inspire courage, build community, and remind every athlete that they are capable of achieving great things.
